About the Female Athlete Conference

Abstract illustration of a human profile using multicolored flowing lines for hair.

Founded in 2013 by Kate Ackerman, MD, MPH, FACSM, the Female Athlete Conference was the first academic and medical conference dedicated to the female athlete. Since then, it has grown into the largest event of its kind – a biennial international summit where researchers, clinicians, coaches, and athletes gather to advance evidence-based care and performance for female athletes across the lifespan.

The Female Athlete Conference, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) working to close the disparity in research and treatment of female athletes, promoting understanding of their unique and understudied physiology and lived experience alongside clinical best practices and interdisciplinary action.
