What we do…
Founded in 2013 by Kate Ackerman, MD, MPH, FACSM, the Biennial International Female Athlete Conference was the first academic and medical conference dedicated to the female athlete.
Our conference continues to be the preeminent summit, building strong networks while highlighting evidence to empower female athletes across the lifespan. It also provides the opportunity for those committed to the health and performance of female athletes to gather, exchange ideas, and advance our knowledge within the field.
Our Reach
The 2023 Conference brought together top researchers, care providers, thought leaders, athletes, and advocates for a global learning summit that equipped all attendees to better serve female athletes.

Target Audience
The conference is designed for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, sports medicine specialists, physical therapists, athletic trainers, psychologists, mental health professionals, dietitians, coaches, researchers, female athletes and their families, and others involved with the evaluation and management of female athletes.

Help us work towards our mission to close the disparity in research and treatment of female athletes by promoting an understanding of their unique physiology and lived experiences.
The Female Athlete Conference, Inc. is a 501(c)(3), and all proceeds directly fund female athlete health and performance-related research.
Proceeds support research in the Wu Tsai Female Athlete Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and fund grants to external collaborators, scholarships for conference attendees, and the development of future educational programs.

The Conference promotes understanding of female athletes' unique and understudied physiology and lived experience, as well as clinical best practices and interdisciplinary calls-to-action.

Since its inception in 2013, the Female Athlete Conference has seen tremendous growth and continues to be the largest event dedicated to female athlete health and performance.
